Transfer and Prior Learning Credit

Save Time and Money. Earn Your Degree Faster.

At Rosemont, we know that learning takes place both inside and out of the classroom. As a non-traditional college student, you already have life and work experience under your belt. Not only does this help you in the classroom, but it may reduce the courses you need to take.

Transfer Policy

The School of Professional Studies has a generous transfer policy. Students can bring in as many as 84 credits into the program. Credits presented for transfer must be from an accredited institution and a final course grade of a C or higher is required.

Transfer credit is acceptable in lieu of all General Education requirements except Writing I (ENG-160) College Writing II (ENG-0170). These two courses are required of all students enrolled in the School of Professional Studies. For more information about transfer credits, please contact the program director.

Prior Learning Assessments

By evaluating a portfolio, we determine whether your experience qualifies as college-level learning. Pay for one credit and receive three credits per course successfully challenged. You may challenge up to fifteen courses.

Credit by Examination

Credit by examination is acceptable in lieu of all General Education requirements except College Writing I (ENG-0170) and College Writing II (ENG-0170). These two courses are required of all students enrolled in the School of Professional Studies.

After enrolling in the School of Professional Studies, you may seek approval from your program to receive credit by examination. Both DSST and CLEP exams are acceptable. Contact your program's director for more information.
